Handling a Workday Interview

If you need to schedule a job interview during your workday, be smart about it:

  1. Schedule adequate time. Trying to cram your interview and travel time into your lunch break puts unnecessary pressure on you. Request a half day off, instead.
  2. Keep your reason to yourself. When you schedule the time off, simply say it's to attend to personal matters. There's no need to make up a cover story -- and lying could backfire.
